Privacy Policy

Gradual is designed to keep your practice private. No account is required, and the developer does not operate a server that receives your practice records.

Effective July 13, 2026 iPhone & Apple Watch English

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy describes how information is handled when you use Gradual on iPhone and Apple Watch. Gradual is a self-guided tool for planning and recording small practice steps related to everyday height situations.

Gradual does not require an account. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, emergency monitoring, or medical advice.

2. Information processed by Gradual

Depending on how you use the app, Gradual may process:

  • Your selected goal and practice step
  • Practice dates, start and end times, and durations
  • Before-and-after self-reported tension ratings
  • Practice completion status and source device
  • App preferences and local settings
  • Optional heart-rate samples recorded during an active Apple Watch practice

You do not need to provide your name, email address, phone number, precise location, or payment information to use Gradual.

3. Local storage and device sync

Practice records and settings are stored in Gradual’s local app container on your devices. The developer does not operate a backend that receives or stores these records.

When you use the companion Apple Watch app, the current practice and completed sessions may transfer between your paired iPhone and Apple Watch using Apple’s WatchConnectivity framework.

Operating-system backups are controlled by Apple and by your device and account settings. Apple handles that information under its own privacy policies.

4. Health and heart-rate data

Health access is optional. If you grant permission, Gradual reads heart rate during an active practice on Apple Watch and keeps the resulting samples with your private practice record.

Gradual uses heart rate only as context for your own record. It does not use Health data for advertising, marketing, profiling, or data mining, and it does not sell Health data.

Gradual requests workout access only so Apple Watch can run a live heart-rate session. It does not save your practice as a workout in Apple Health. All core practice features remain available if you decline Health access or if heart rate is unavailable.

5. Exporting and sharing

You may choose to create a JSON export of your practice history. The export can include practice details, self-reported ratings, source device information, and optional heart-rate samples.

Gradual does not send an export anywhere until you choose a destination through the system share sheet. After you share or save an export, the destination you selected controls how that copy is stored and used.

6. Analytics, advertising, and third parties

Gradual does not include:

  • Third-party advertising SDKs
  • Third-party analytics SDKs
  • Cross-app tracking
  • A developer-operated account or cloud-storage service

We do not sell or rent your practice records or Health data. Apple may process App Store, device, diagnostic, backup, and system information under Apple’s privacy policies and your device settings.

7. Retention and deletion

Practice records remain in the app until you delete them, uninstall the app, or erase the device. Gradual does not retain a server copy.

You can choose Delete all data in Gradual’s Settings to remove your selected goal, practice history, local settings, and pending Gradual practice records on the paired Apple Watch. This action cannot be undone.

8. Your choices and controls

  • Use Gradual without granting Health access
  • Revoke Health access in Apple Health or device privacy settings
  • Export a copy of your practice history
  • Delete all local Gradual data from the app’s Settings
  • Uninstall the iPhone or Apple Watch app
Important Revoking Health access stops future heart-rate reading. It does not automatically remove heart-rate samples already stored in a Gradual practice record. Use Delete all data to remove those local records.

9. Children

Gradual is not directed to children under 13. Because the developer does not operate an account or data-collection service, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated if Gradual’s functionality, data practices, or legal obligations change. The latest policy will be published on this page with a revised effective date.

11. Contact

For privacy questions or requests, contact the developer through the Support URL listed on Gradual’s App Store product page. Please include “Gradual Privacy” in the subject of your message.
